20 July 2020 (7/20) marks 51 years since the Lunar Module ‘Eagle’ first landed on the moon to create history with the first lunar landing ever. In a quest to go beyond traditional frontiers, the landing on the moon truly became one giant leap for mankind, and spelt success for the Apollo program, the name of NASA’s project to land humans on the moon in the 1960s and 1970s. By the time the Apollo missions came to an end, 12 astronauts had walked on or driven over the moon's surface, conducting scientific research and snagging rocks to bring back to researchers on Earth. These samples are still being used to make new discoveries more than 50 years after they were collected.
Though Automobilist is renowned for specialising in celebrating everything automotive, the Moon Landing could not escape our attention - a true celebration of human triumph and achievement.
